About The University

Moscow Region State University was established in 1931 as Moscow Regional Pedagogical Institute. Since its establishment, tens of thousands of qualified specialists have brought fame to the university and country. MRSU is among one of the classical universities, a modern scientific and academic center. At present, over 10,500 students and about 400 doctorate students are studying at the 15 faculties and 84 chairs. The University is a combination of traditions and innovations in higher pedagogical and classical education.

Loyalty to the traditions, the ability to respond to the tendencies of the times, and to carry out long-term work has allowed the University to remain one of the leading higher education institutions in the Moscow Region. The research-to-practice conferences, symposia, seminars, and international congresses held within its walls contribute to the development of contacts between Russian and international partners.

Nowadays, MRSU is training students from about 30 countries in the world. Special groups for international students have been opened. The University is also actively participating in several international education projects, including TEMPUS, ERASMUS, etc.

Student Life

Life at the University is not only learning, but also friendship, interesting meetings, discovering Russia and the world.

Every year students come to MRSU from cities all over the world and almost all regions of Russia – from Kaliningrad in the West to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in the East, from Arkhangelsk in the North to Derbent in the South.

We have students from about 40 countries, including Germany, China, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The Moscow Region State University hosts many events and competitions, in which foreign students actively participate. This is the MRSU sports festival, and Tatiana’s Day, interesting, creative dance and vocal competitions.

The University does everything to ensure that foreign students are maximally involved in the student life of MRSU, and participate in creative and scientific competitions.
