Rus Education Conducted Live Session With Rector of Mari State University

On July 06, 2023, Rus Education conducted a Live session with the esteemed Rector of Mari State University, Prof. Shvetsov Mikhail N. During the Live session, various topics about the university, programs offered, accommodation, the safety of International students, and more were discussed.

The session started with a welcoming address from the Vice Chairman of Rus Education, Air Marshal Dr. Pawan Kapoor (Retd.) who welcomed the participants Prof. Shvetsov Mikhail N., Rector of Mari State University, and Ms. Natalia N. Kanashina, Head of International Department of Mari State University, students and parents who watched the session from the comfort of their homes. During the welcoming address, Air Marshal Dr. Pawan Kapoor (Retd.), stated, “The right source of information comes from the source itself.”

The Live session with the Rector covered several aspects of MBBS at Mari State University, safety in Russia for International students, particularly Indian Students, medical degree awarded, and so on. Many questions were raised to clarify the doubts of the Indian students and parents seeking an opportunity to study MBBS in Russia. While the Rector managed to answer as many questions that were asked, a few of the things that he clarified were:

  • Mari State University believes in Multi-ethnic, intercultural mix, equity, and non-discrimination.
  • It offers a 6-years MBBS course including 1 year internship in English Medium.
  • The MBBS course at Mari State University is a semester-based system. It is a 6 months semester system and at the end of every semester, an evaluation exam is conducted.
  • After the completion of the 6 years course, a gross examination is conducted that qualifies the MBBS/MD students for the Diploma.
  • Graduates can appear for an accreditation examination to attain the Licence to practice medicine in Russia. Medical Practice in Russia begins at the Polyclinic, graduates are not directly assigned to the hospitals. However, once the course at the Polyclinic is completed, the graduates are assigned as independent and supervised physicians in various hospitals in Russia.
  • At Mari State University, medical students get plenty of clinical exposure.
  • FMGE/NExT classes are conducted at the university during the MBBS course.

The Rector also talked about the opportunity for Indian students to transfer to Mari State University to resume their studies. However, the students must provide their transcript to be admitted to the university for MBBS in Russia.
