NTA guidelines for NEET(UG) – 2024

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is an entrance examination conducted for medical aspirants across the country to study medicine in India or abroad. This exam is a highly competitive examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) once a year during the month of May. There are more than 23Lakh students registered for the exam this year. In order to refrain the candidates appearing for NEET (UG) 2024 from performing any malpractice during the exam, the NTA has issued several mandatory guidelines. These guidelines include the Dress Code, Barred items, and other information to be followed in the examination hall.

According to the NTA guidelines for NEET(UG) – 2024, individuals who do not comply with the specified dress code regulations will be barred from entering the examination hall. Therefore, applicants are required to meticulously follow the provided instructions during the exam.

NEET(UG) – 2024 Dress Code for Candidates

  1. Heavy clothes and/or long sleeves are not permitted.
  2. Customary clothes are allowed only after specific approval from the NTA
  3. Students should be dressed in short sleeves and must avoid wearing dark colours.
  4. Candidates must not wear closed footwear such as shoes, sneakers, stilettoes, etc., instead, open footwear such as slippers, and sandals with low heels are allowed.
  5. In case of any unavoidable reasons such as medical reasons, etc., applicants can get prior approval from the NTA.

NEET(UG) – 2024 Dress Code – Customary Dress

NTA permits candidates to wear customary attire during the NEET (UG) 2024 exam, provided they declare the same during the NEET (UG) 2024 application process.

Additionally, candidates opting for cultural or customary dress are required to arrive at the examination hall at least one to two hours before the final reporting time, which is 12:30 pm. This ensures candidates can undergo thorough frisking procedures without inconvenience, maintaining the integrity of the examination process.

Barred Items of NEET(UG) – 2024 

To avoid unfair practices, candidates will have to go through thorough frisking before entering the examination center. Candidates are not permitted to carry the following items inside the Examination Center:

  1. Any item such as bits of paper or textual material(printed or written)
  2. Electronic devices such as Mobile phones, Health bands, Earphones, Bluetooth devices, pager, microphones, etc. 
  3. Stationery items such as pen, pencil, calculator, pencil box, log table, eraser, scale, writing pad, electronic pen, etc.
  4. Food items either opened or packed, water bottles, etc. 
  5. Items like Wristwatch, Bracelet, camera, ornaments/metallic items, wallet, purses, caps, belts, goggles, etc

Please Note: Candidates are strongly advised against bringing any prohibited items to the examination hall, as there will be no arrangements made at the examination center for candidates to keep their belongings.

NEET (UG) 2024 Admit Card

  1. Download the Admit Card from the NTA Website https://exams.nta.ac.in/NEET/ and Print the same.
  2. No Candidate will be allowed inside the Examination Center without an Admit Card
  3. No candidate will be allowed inside the Examination Centre on the Date and Timing other than that allotted to him/her in his / her Admit Card.
  4. Candidates are advised to read the instructions given on the Admit Card carefully.

Instructions to be followed in the Examination Hall

Please note that the examination hall will be opened two hours before the commencement of the test. Candidates are advised to reach the exam center before the closing time. No candidate shall be allowed to enter the Examination Centre after 1:30 pm.

Candidates are required to present their Admit Card upon request at the Examination Hall. Additionally, candidates must take their assigned seats before the start of the examination.

Candidates must carry the following documents:

  • A printed copy of the Admit Card, downloaded from the NTA website, must include a passport-size photograph (matching the one uploaded on the Application form) affixed to it.
  • One passport-size photograph, identical to the one uploaded on the Online Application Form, must be affixed to the designated space on the Attendance Sheet at the Centre during the NEET (UG) – 2024 Examination.
  • A color photograph with dimensions of one post card size (4”X 6”) and a white background should be affixed to the Proforma downloaded with the Admit Card. This Proforma, along with the post card size photograph, must be submitted to the Invigilator in the Examination Hall.
  • Any one of the authorized photo IDs which must be original and valid and like PAN card/Driving License/Voter ID/Passport/Aadhaar Card /Ration Card/ Class 12 Admit Card with Photograph /any other valid photo ID issued by the Government.
  • PwBD certificate issued by the Competent Authority, if claiming the relaxation under PwBD category

The candidate is required to sign twice on the Attendance Sheet at the designated location: first immediately after the commencement of the examination and second while handing over the Answer Sheet to the Invigilator. Additionally, candidates must provide their thumb impression in the space provided on the Attendance Sheet.

Unfair means Practices and Breach of Examination Rules

  • Possession of prohibited items or articles, including stationery, communication devices, accessories, food items, ornaments, or any material relevant or irrelevant to the examination.
  • Impersonation or aiding in the preparation of materials for copying.
  • Violating examination rules or NTA directives related to the NEET (UG) – 2024 exam.
  • Assisting other candidates in malpractices directly or indirectly.
  • Writing questions or answers on any material other than the provided answer sheet.
  • Damaging answer sheets or test booklets.
  • Communicating with anyone other than examination staff during the exam.
  • Removing answer sheets from the examination hall/room.
  • Stealing or attempting to steal question papers or answer sheets.
  • Threatening exam officials or candidates.
  • Using unauthorized methods or means during the exam.
  • Manipulating or fabricating online documents such as admit cards or rank letters.
  • Forcibly entering or exiting the examination center/hall.
  • Using electronic devices after entering the examination center.
  • Uploading incorrect or manipulated photographs on application forms/admit cards.
  • Erasing or obliterating information on the OMR Answer Sheet.
  • Providing incorrect information on the OMR Answer Sheet.
  • Tampering with OMR sheets or making fake claims before or after result declaration.
  • Disrupting the smooth and fair conduct of the examination.
  • Engaging in any other malpractices deemed unfair by the NTA.

Please Note: The candidate would be debarred for 3 years in the future and shall also be liable for criminal action and /or any other action as deemed fit and the result for such candidate would be canceled by the NTA.
