Sobraniye 2026 – The Pre-Departure Ceremony: 300+ Students Get Ready to Begin Their MBBS Journey in Russia

On 5th October 2026, Rus Education, in collaboration with the Russian House in New Delhi, organized Sobraniye 2026, the pre-departure ceremony for Indian students preparing to begin their MBBS journey in Russia. Sobraniye is an event held to prepare students for departure and to send them off with confidence and the blessings of their families.

The event brought together over 300 Indian students who are all set to embark on their medical journey in top medical universities in Russia. Students from different parts of India are ready to join Orenburg State Medical University, Perm State Medical University, Mari State University, Pskov State University, and Kalmyk State University, as well as other Russian medical universities, and were excited to participate in the ceremony.

Students and families came together at Sobraniye 2026 – after completing the admission process and before their departure to begin university life in Russia. The students got an opportunity to meet and interact with fellow students and families,  as they came together to kickstart a new academic chapter in their lives.

The ceremony brought together distinguished representatives from the Russian House, healthcare and education sectors, including Mr. Anar Isaev, Representative of the Russian House; Dr. Sanjeev K. Singh, Medical Director, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences; Dr. Vanitaa Jha, Director, Research and Academics, Max Healthcare; Dr. Vanita Mittal, Associate Vice President, Max Healthcare; Shri Puneet Agarwal, Vice Chairman, Indraprastha Engineering College (IPEC); Dr. Parag R. Rindani, Former CEO, Wockhardt Group of Hospitals & Alumnus of Tver State Medical University; Ms. Elena Barman, Indian Association of Russian Compatriots; and Dr. Dinesh Singla, CEO, Rus Education.

Addressing the students, Mr. Anar Isaev, Representative of the Russian House, encouraged them to begin their medical journey with confidence and a strong sense of purpose. He spoke about the importance of staying determined through challenges, making the most of the opportunities ahead and keeping their goal of becoming doctors at the centre of their journey.

Dr. Sanjeev K. Singh, Medical Director, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, congratulated the students on choosing medicine as their profession and spoke about the patience, dedication and commitment required to become a doctor. Drawing from the example of Sita in the Ramayana, he reminded students that difficult circumstances require patience, inner strength and faith in one’s goal. He encouraged them to remain focused through academic pressure, moments of homesickness, and other challenges they may encounter during their years of medical education.

He also wished all the students the very best for their journey and encouraged them to work hard, remain dedicated, and make their parents proud.

Dr. Vanitaa Jha, Dr. Vanita Mittal, and Shri Puneet Agarwal also addressed the students and shared insights about adapting to a new environment, staying focused on academics, and taking responsibility for their education and personal growth.

Ms. Elena Barman, Indian Association of Russian Compatriots, spoke about the importance of education and India’s journey as an independent nation since 1947. She encouraged students to make the most of their experience in Russia while staying connected to their Indian roots.

The ceremony also included an interaction with the students, allowing them to share their feelings before departure. Students spoke about the excitement of beginning medical school, as well as the nervousness that naturally comes with leaving home and moving to a new country.

The programme concluded with an address by Dr. Dinesh Singla, CEO, Rus Education, who shared a message for every student preparing to begin this journey. He reminded them that challenges will come, but their goals must always remain bigger than those challenges.

Dr. Singla encouraged the students to turn every difficulty into motivation, stay focused on their studies, make the most of Russia’s world-class infrastructure, and work hard towards becoming successful doctors. He also reminded them that their journey is about more than earning a degree and encouraged them to carry the values of a good Indian and a responsible citizen wherever they go.

At the event, students met fellow aspirants going to be their classmates and friends. This created a sense of community among students before reaching Russia.

The ceremony also highlighted the growing connection between India and Russia in the field of education. As Indian students get ready to join universities across different Russian cities, they are stepping into an experience that goes beyond academics — discovering a new culture, meeting people from different backgrounds, and creating memories and friendships along the way.

For Rus Education, Sobraniye 2026 is another step in supporting students and their families throughout their journey abroad. From helping them choose the right university and guiding them through the admission process to preparing them for life in a new country, the focus remains on making their transition to studying abroad smoother and more comfortable.

For Rus Education, Sobraniye 2026 reflects its continued support for students and families throughout the international education process, from university selection and admission guidance to pre-departure preparation and support as students begin their studies abroad.
