The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an official public notice regarding biometric verification for candidates appearing in NEET UG 2026. The exam is scheduled to be conducted on May 3, 2026.
As per the notice, biometric verification remains a mandatory step for all candidates before entering the examination room, following the completion of frisking procedures.

What Happens If Biometric Verification Fails
The NTA has clarified that in certain situations, biometric verification may not be completed successfully. These include device hardware issues, poor quality biometric data, connectivity problems with UIDAI, or the physical inability of a candidate to provide biometric details.
Candidates will still be allowed to enter the examination room in such cases. However, they will be required to submit a written undertaking. The format for this undertaking will be provided at the exam centre itself.
No Disruption During Exam Hours
To ensure a smooth examination experience, the NTA has stated that candidates will not be disturbed for biometric processes during the exam duration. The examination will be conducted from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with an extension until 6:00 PM for PwD or PwBD candidates, where applicable.
This measure aims to maintain a focused and uninterrupted environment for all test-takers.
