Amidst the FMGE 2026 protest by candidates at Jantar Mantar, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) conducted an important meeting on 3 August 2026 at its office in Dwarka, New Delhi, with representatives of Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) and the All India Medical Students’ Association (AIMSA) to discuss concerns related to the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) June 2026 examination.

The meeting was led by Air Marshal (Dr.) Pawan Kapoor (Retd.), Chairperson of the Expert Committee, along with Dr. Minu Bajpai, Vice President of NBEMS. Dr. Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and a member of the committee, could not attend due to official commitments.

Various FMG representatives, including Dr. Apurv Dalvi (AIMSA), Dr. Bhagwan, Dr. Rafiq Rather, Dr. Shubham, Dr. Priyansh Jain, and Dr. Kushmit Batra, attended the meeting along with other representatives. Several NBEMS officials also participated in the discussions.

The committee carefully listened to all the concerns raised by the candidates regarding the conduct of the FMGE June 2026 examination. After the discussion, the committee assured the representatives that it it will review in detail all the issues that have been raised.  

The committee said it will:

  • Review the overall difficulty level of the last three FMGE examinations.
  • Check whether the questions in FMGE June 2026 matched the expected MBBS exit-level standard.
  • The committee will check whether the number and duration of video-based questions affected the time available to candidates.
  • Investigate complaints about examination centre conditions, including temperature, ventilation, and other infrastructure issues, to see if they impacted candidate performance.
  • Review the current rules related to the release of question papers, answer keys, and other transparency-related matters.
  • Examine cases where candidates from different examination sessions received the same marks.
  • Review the existing rules governing the FMGE qualifying criteria and determine whether any relaxation or compensation is possible under the current legal framework.

The Expert Committee informed the representatives that it aims to complete its review within the next two weeks. Once the review is completed, the stakeholders will be invited to the NBEMS office to discuss the committee’s findings and recommendations, including any measures that may be considered for future FMGE examinations.
