NEET UG 2026: NTA Ensures Secure, Transparent Exam for Over 22.79 Lakh Students

New Delhi, May 3, 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed that all preparations are in place for the NEET UG 2026 exam, scheduled to be held on May 3, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This year, the exam will be conducted in 551 cities across India and 14 cities abroad, covering over 5,432 exam centres. Around 22.79 lakh students have registered, making it one of the largest entrance exams in the world.

Large-Scale Arrangements for NEET 2026

To manage such a massive exam, NTA has deployed a strong administrative system. This includes 674 city coordinators and more than 6,000 observers to monitor the exam process. In addition, centre superintendents and invigilators are present at every exam centre, with support from district authorities, police forces, and escort teams. Overall, over 2 lakh personnel have been involved to ensure the exam is conducted smoothly and safely.

Strong Security to Ensure Fair Examination

NTA has introduced strict security protocols to prevent any unfair practices. These include:

  • Biometric verification of candidates
  • CCTV monitoring at exam centres
  • Secure transport of question papers with tracking systems
  • Thorough security checks before entry

Authorities are also actively monitoring online platforms to stop the spread of false information. Several channels sharing misleading content have already been blocked to protect students from scams.

Facilities Provided for Students

To ensure a comfortable experience for candidates, especially in summer conditions, exam centres are equipped with:

  • Proper electricity and ventilation
  • Drinking water and sanitation facilities
  • Medical support if needed

Students are allowed to carry essential items such as a transparent water bottle, while those with medical conditions have been given specific relaxations as per guidelines.

Important Instructions for Candidates

Candidates must reach their exam centres within the designated reporting time. Entry will close before the exam begins, and late arrivals will not be permitted. Students are also advised to:

  • Carry valid ID proof and an admit card
  • Follow the official dress code
  • Avoid bringing prohibited items like electronic devices

NTA has urged students to depend only on official announcements and not believe rumours regarding exam leaks or malpractice.

NTA Reaffirms Commitment to Transparency

The agency has emphasized its focus on conducting NEET UG 2026 with complete transparency and fairness. With the support of multiple government departments and security agencies, the exam is expected to proceed smoothly across all centres.
