The National Testing Agency (NTA) issued various updates and advisories regarding the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21. The NEET UG re-exam will be conducted across different centres in India and abroad in pen and paper mode.
After the cancellation of the earlier NEET exam on May 3, the re-exam will be conducted under enhanced security measures on Jun 21, 2026.
This blog will explain all the latest updates released by the National Testing Agency that the candidates must know before appearing for the re-examination.
Mandatory Biometric Verification
On the day of the re-exam, all candidates must undergo mandatory frisking and biometric verification (fingerprint/facial recognition) before entering the examination hall. This is a security measure that must be followed before the re-examination commences.
In case the biometric verification of a candidate is not completed due to any of the following reasons:
- Device hardware failure
- Connectivity failure with UIDAI servers
- Poor quality of biometric data
- Physical inability of the candidate to perform biometric verification
The candidate will still be permitted to enter the examination hall; however, he/she will be required to provide a written undertaking in the examination centre at the time of entry. The format of this written undertaking will be available at the examination centre with the centre superintendent.
Candidates will NOT be disturbed during the active examination duration for biometric processing. The time duration for the NEET re-examination is from 02:00 PM to 05:15 PM. The PwD/PwBD candidates who are allowed compensatory time can extend the examination period till 6:20 PM.
Advisory Regarding Dress Code & Permissible Items
All candidates appearing for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination must note the following instructions regarding the dress code and permissible items:
Candidates are allowed to carry transparent water bottles in the examination hall
Candidates are allowed to carry their Admit Card in transparent plastic pouches to avoid damage due to rain
Candidates are permitted to wear articles or objects of faith like kalawas, religious symbols, turbans, hijabs, etc. However, they should report to the exam centre well in advance to ensure a smooth frisking process.
Candidates can wear slippers or low-heeled footwear. Candidates wearing high-heeled footwear can go through additional checks.
Candidates Must Not Carry:
Any electronic devices, such as mobile phones, earphones, smartwatches, Bluetooth accessories, or any such type of communication device, are not permitted in the exam hall.
Large belt buckles, metallic items, heavy jewellery, and any other accessories are not permitted in the examination hall.
All candidates are required to go through the mandatory frisking process before entering the exam hall.
Change of Exam Centre for Re-Exam Candidates in Prayagraj
The National Testing Agency issued fresh Admit Cards for candidates appearing in the NEET UG re-exam at the University of Allahabad. This change of venue of the exam centre is mainly due to administrative reasons, such as the unavailability of electricity and the ongoing construction work.
The change in the exam centre is as follows:
- Old Centre – Harivansh Rai Bachchan Cultural Centre; University of Allahabad, Prayagraj Near Indian Press Chauraha, Opposite Chandrashekhar Azad Park Gate No.3 Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh – 211002
- New Centre – Department of Medieval and Modern History, Senate House Campus, University of Allahabad, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh – 211002
The candidates can download the fresh Admit Cards from the official NTA website – https://neet.nta.nic.in. NTA also clarified that the candidates having Admit Cards of the Old Centre will also be permitted to appear for the examination at the New Centre.
NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Updates Via WhatsApp
The National Testing Agency also announced that all examination updates and centre information will be sent directly to the candidates via WhatsApp for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21. The initiative has been taken so that the information reaches candidates directly while avoiding any confusion.
Important Details Regarding WhatsApp Updates
- Updates will be sent only through the verified NTA WhatsApp number – +91 7827980287.
- Candidates must look at the blue verified tick and the official display name “National Testing Agency”
- A number without the blue tick is not NTA, even if it uses its name.
- This is a broadcast-only channel. It is used to send information by NTA, and NTA will never ask you to reply to it or share personal details, OTP or make any payment. If any NTA message asks you to do any payment, it is fraud.
NTA Fully Prepared For Smooth & Secure Conduct of NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination
In its last & final update, NTA reassured candidates and parents that it is fully prepared for a smooth and secure conduct of NEET UG re-examination scheduled on June 21 (Sunday) in pen and paper mode.
In terms of coordination & administration, it confirmed that:
- 674 City Coordinators will be overseeing city-level operations
- 6,669 Observers deployed for independent oversight at examination centres
- Centre Superintendents and Invigilators at every examination centre
- District Administrations, Police Forces and Escort Teams, particularly for the secure transportation of confidential materials
