NEET UG 2026 Registration: Documents Checklist and New Verification Updates

NEET UG 2026 Registration: Documents Checklist and New Verification Updates
February 9, 2026

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened the NEET UG 2026 registration process on its official portal neet.nta.nic.in. Aspirants can now apply for the medical entrance exam that opens doors to courses like MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and B.Sc. Nursing. Registration runs from February 8 to March 8, 2026. See below the verification updates and documents checklist you must know before applying.

Aadhaar eKYC Takes Center Stage

For the first time in NEET history, NTA has made Aadhaar-based eKYC mandatory for identity verification during application. This means students must use their Aadhaar-linked mobile number and details to confirm their identity before submitting the form. This step aims to make the process secure and reduce fake or duplicate registrations.

Live Photo Capture Ensures You Are You

A new rule now requires every NEET UG 2026 applicant to capture a live photograph while filling out the online form. This cannot be an old or pre-uploaded image. The camera must capture the student’s face in real time so the system can compare it with the Aadhaar photo.

If the live photo does not match the Aadhaar image, candidates must upload a valid supporting certificate. This extra layer of verification is designed to stop impersonation and make the registration more reliable.

Mandatory Document Checklist

The NTA has instructed all NEET 2026 candidates to ensure their Aadhaar details and category certificates are fully updated. The NEET UG application will only accept documents that meet the specifications listed below.
