Recently, the esteemed Rector of Mari State University, Prof. Mikhail Shvetsov N., lecturer of the Russian society “Znanie”, conducted a fascinating lecture session with international students on “India in the Second World War”!
He explained India’s participation in World War II and Russian–Indian cooperation. Furthermore, he spoke about the vital role of India in the military operations against Nazi Germany, emphasizing the contribution of Indian soldiers and civilians to the common victory of the Allies.
The students who partook in the session learned a lot about the heroism and dedication of the Indians who fought alongside the British and Commonwealth troops.
“This is not just a historical conversation, it is about mutual understanding, respect, and common pages of our history. More than 2.5 million Indians participated in World War II, including on the European fronts. The memory of this unites our peoples. It is especially important to talk about this in the year of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, which is undoubtedly our common Victory. We are proud that Mari State University is a point of attraction for young people from all over the world. And we want everyone to feel at home here and join our values, our history, which is exactly where the truth and true greatness lie!” stated Prof. Mikhail Shvetsov N.
