NBE Releases Dates for December-January Medical Examinations
The National Board of Education on Monday, September 16, 2019, released a notice with all crucial dates of upcoming examinations for the medical students in India. The notice includes the examination dates for FMGE 2019, NEET-PG 2020 NEET-MDS 2020, and PDCET 2020, which are all computer-based exams conducted by the NBE. The notice further mentions that all other information pertaining to registration timeline and other guidelines will be made available soon on the Board’s official website – https://nbe.edu.in/
The dates mentioned in the notice are as follows –
- FMGE 2019 (December) – December 20, 2019
- PDCET 2020 (January) – December 20, 2019
- NEET MDS 2020 – December 20, 2019
- NEET PG 2020 – January 5, 2020
Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE)
FMGE or MCI Screening Test is the examination that all medical graduates from foreign universities have to sit for upon returning to India. The examination is the licentiate examination to practice medicine in India in case of pursuing MBBS from abroad. FMGE is conducted bi-annually for Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI).
Post Diploma Centralized Entrance Test (PDCET)
PDCET is the entrance examination for individuals seeking post-graduate admission to post-diploma DNB (Diplomat of National Board). The computer-based examination for admission to the two-year course is conducted by the National Board of Examinations.
Individuals seeking admission to a course of Masters of Dental Surgery (MDS) have to clear the NEET-MDS exam to meet the eligibility criteria for admission. This exam is a mandatory test for the candidates who after qualification can apply for seats in government and private dental colleges in India.
Medical graduates in India seeking admission to the postgraduate medical courses are required to clear the NEET-PG exam which is conducted every year by the National Board of Examinations. Upon qualification, the candidates can then apply to secure a seat in the Indian government and private medical colleges and universities.
